Gerald Sturgis

February 15, 1940 — December 10, 2013

Gerald "Jerry" William Sturgis, 73, of Dalton Gardens passed away December 10, 2013 surrounded by his family at home. Jerry was born February 15, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Paul and Violet (Falk) Sturgis. Jerry attended and graduated from Maricosta High School. Jerry had first married Darlene Doty, they were later divorced. Then he met Virginia Lee Burgess and they were married March 15, 1964 in Reno, Nevada, she was the love of his life. They were married 49 years when Virginia passed on October 29, 2013. Together they lived in Lodi, California before moving to North Idaho in 1970 settling in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. Jerry had worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 28 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Mica Flats Grange Association, the Lake Coeur d' Alene Anglers Association, and the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. He is survived by seven children Don Houk and wife Susan, daughter Diane Ahlers and husband Jerry, daughter Tambra Maple and husband Bill, son James Houk, and Jerry, Brad, and Kelly Sturgis; and one sister-in-law Rose Sturgis of Post Falls, Idaho. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia and one brother Ken Sturgis. The last Twenty years Jerry and Virginia enjoyed their retirement as snowbirds to Lake Havasu. They enjoyed their 12 Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was a Loving husband, Father, Brother. Grandfather, Great- grandfather. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 28th, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at Bell Tower Funeral Home 3398 E. Jenalan Ave. Post Falls, Idaho 83854.
