Gary Mikel Thomas

Gary Mikel Thomas, known affectionately as Mikel, of Post Falls, ID, passed away unexpectedly on April 9th, 2024, at his home in Post Falls. He was born on September 26th, 1986, to his loving parents Gary W. Thomas and Tracy Hedge.

Growing up in Coeur d'Alene, ID, Mikel attended Lake City High School and graduated in 2005. He pursued a career in the service industry and found joy in bartending at the Coeur d'Alene resort for many years.

Mikel had a passion for sports from a young age and excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. Throughout high school, he dedicated his time to playing football. He was a devoted fan of the Seahawks, Mariners, and Gonzaga basketball. Attending sporting events brought him immense happiness, and he also enjoyed watching NBA and college basketball games.

In addition to his athletic pursuits, Mikel was a talented cook with a creative flair in the kitchen. Many cherished memories were made with family gatherings centered around cooking together.

Known for his great sense of humor and witty remarks, Mikel always had a way of bringing smiles to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mikel is survived by his parent Gary W. Thomas of Post Falls; sister Jamie Grunzweig (Daniel Grunzweig) of Coeur d'Alene; brother Trevor Thomas (Taylor Thomas) of Coeur d'Alene; grandparent Louisette Thomas of Post Falls; niece Kaylee Grunzweig; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and other relatives and friends who mourn his loss.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Gary L. Thomas, grandmother Kay Brockley, mother Tracy Hedge, and uncle Todd Hedge.

In honoring Mikel's memory, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and the special moments shared together. Rest in peace, dear Mikel.
