Born July 29, 1954
Died August 30, 2019
Preceded in death by his father, LaVerne O. "Hump" Prieur
Survived by his mother, Leah Rae Kelly and Stepfather, Cecil Kelly both of Coeur d'Alene; sister, Becky Roberts of Arlington, Washington, and brother Russ Prieur also of Coeur d'Alene. Gary joined the army when he was 17 and spent some time in Korea as a radio operator. Since then he worked in several different jobs over his career in maintenance and retail. He loved to play and watch sports. He played baseball while he was growing up; he was coached by his dad when he was in little league. In high school he participated in track. He was also an avid bowler all of his life. In his free time he loved to work with wood--he was naturally gifted and could fix and build virtually anything. He built props for the Coeur d'Alene Summer Theater for a couple of years. He also loved to garden. Every year he had a garden and loved to work in the yard. He also loved to feed the squirrels and birds. He lived in a mobile home park and was good friends with many of the residents. He enjoyed helping others in the park, and they knew where to go if they needed tools or some help. Those same people helped and watched out for him while he was battling his cancer this past year.
