Ethel "LOUISE" Powell Elliot Luce was born Feb. 23, 1923 in Preston Idaho to Morrell Anderson Powell, and Florence Ethel Salmon . She went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 30, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin Luce, former husband Gordon" Josh" Elliot, daughter Judith Ann Elliot, and Twins James and John Elliot who died at birth. She is survived by two children, Sandra Louise Simon of Post falls; Kenneth Gordon Elliot (Melody) of Phoenix; one step son Jerry Luce (Judy) of Spokane and their children and grand children. Three Grandchildren, Louise Zimmerman of Post Falls, Ben Zimmerman of Coeur d'Alene, and Melina of Phoenix. Seven Great-grandchildren, Mikel Buffaloe (Jamie), Marisa Black (Nathan), Josef Buffaloe, Krisi Buffaloe, Caila Zimmerman, Jessica Zimmerman, and Izabella Zimmerman. One Great-great-grandson, Luca Buffaloe.
Louise was raised in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Moscow Idaho, before settling in Lapwai Idaho. She graduated from Lapwai High School in 1939, married Josh Elliot shortly thereafter and lived in Lapwai and Lewiston and Clarkston while raising her surviving 3 children. In the early 1960's she moved to Spokane Washington, where she worked as a dental assistant for Doctor Ezra Ward. She later worked for several other dentists, and as dental assistant for the state hospital at Medical Lake. She then became an instructor at Spokane community College. She met and married her husband Edwin Leroy Luce in 1967. They resided on Spokane South hill in a Round house they built themselves until Ed's death in 2004, when she moved to back to Idaho.
Louise was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many callings as Relief Society teacher, bishops secretary, Young woman's leader, and spent many hours working in the family history center, and in the temple. Ed and Louise and their good friends The Flemmings, spent several years traveling once a month spending a week at a time working in the Seattle Temple, as Special Proxies.
Louise loved gardening and being outdoors. In addition to building a house, she and Ed built their very own catamaran and camper. They spent many summers at Deer Lake, WA swimming, camping, and fishing. But her greatest love of all was her Family.
