Elizabeth Anne McGrail Grant “Liz”, 84 passed away August 23, 2018 with her husband Roger at her side at the Hospice of North Idaho after a prolonged battle with frontotemporal dementia.
Born in Worcester, MA the oldest of five children, Elizabeth was known for her love of language, her passion for photography and her expert skill s as a seamstress. She enjoyed traveling the United States, Canada and Mexico with her husband in their RV and being involved with the Spokane Valley Camera Club, the Lake Pend Oreille Yacht Club and the Escapees RV Club.
Elizabeth graduated from Leicester High School in Leicester, MA and received a certificate of completion in the Criminal Justice program at Eastern State University, Cheney, WA. Her early career included working as a telephone operator for AT&T and as a secretary to the AFROTC unit at Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA where she met her husband Roger. When transferred to Beale AFB, Marysville, CA, Elizabeth worked as a librarian at Yuba Community College. After Roger’s retirement from the USAF they moved to Veradale, WA where Liz worked for 18 years with the Washington Liquor Control Board as a liquor control agent. After retirement, Elizabeth and her husband moved to Hayden, ID.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Anne Abramson, sister Paula McGrail and brother Billy McGrail.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband; sister Kathy (Bill) Madaus of Plymouth, MA; brother Michael (Mary) McGrail of Raleigh, NC; sons Mark (Therese) Abramson of Kirkland, WA and Peter (Beverly) Abramson of Hubbardson, MA; stepdaughter Wendi (Edward) Stebbins of Auburn, MA and grandsons, Matthew (Shawn) Abramson of Spokane Valley, WA and Jonathan and Eric Abramson of Kirkland, WA.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the Community Building at the Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 West Prairie Ave. Coeur d’ Alene, ID. Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the Hospice of North Idaho.
