Eleanor Robinson

June 19, 1920 — April 11, 2013

Eleanor Mae Robinson (Ellie), loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on April 11, 2013. She was born on June 19, 1920 in Delisle, Saskatchewan, Canada to Albert and Lena Mielke. She moved with her family to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho when she was three. She was the second youngest of seven children. She remained there for fourteen years. In 1937 she moved with her family to Angola, Indiana to help run her brothers creamery. She graduated from high school in Angola in 1939. She returned to the northwest with her family two years later, settling in Spokane. She worked at Geiger Field and Fairchild Air Force Base on the B-17 Flying Fortress during WWII. She married Larry Robinson in 1946. Together they had four children. The family enjoyed many vacations together, camping, boating and fishing throughout the Northwest, with many memorable times spent at Priest Lake, Idaho. Mom worked as a bookkeeper at various banks and companies. She volunteered for the Heart Drive, Cancer Society, and the election board and participated in Bloomsday for several years. She joined Corbin Senior Center in the 80's where she was a member of the hiking group and enjoyed playing pool and pinochle. She loved family gatherings and reunions. Occasionally she liked to dance and sing. Ellie was a winker and a flirt. She liked movies, chocolate, lobster, flowers, cooking, driving and beautiful mountains. Larry passed away in 1990 and Ellie hit the road. She traveled to New York, Arizona, Rhode Island and then, on to London, Israel, St Croix, Italy, and France. In 2010 we celebrated her 90th birthday, and all of her extended family came to celebrate. She returned to CDA in 2010 and remained there till her death. She is preceded in death by her brothers Leonard, Lloyd, Reyo, and Sisters Lenore, Ethel, and husband Larry. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy and children David, Janice, Susan, Lynne, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Please visit her online Memorial at belltowerfuneralhome.com. A celebration of her life will take place in Post Falls Idaho on June 29th. The place and time will be in this section again on June 16, 2013. She is not on the Lone Prairie but with us always.
