Edward Highley, age 75, passed away on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2025. He was born on April 25, 1949, to Arthur W. and Virginia Vila Highley in Manila, Philippines. Edward's father was a U.S. citizen who relocated his family to the United States in 1953 when Edward was four years old.
He was the fourth of thirteen children and is survived by his three remaining brothers, Monroe, Robert, and Joey Highley, along with seven sisters: Ethel Shaw, Mona Cloer, Mary Lou Anson, Marian Gaines, Annie Highley, Lucia Eskey, and Rosy Denys.
For most of his life, he lived in the Los Angeles area. In his later years, he resided with his sister Lucy Eskey and her family in Post Falls, Idaho. He spent the last year of his life in an assisted living home.
He loved saying his “Hail Mary's,” listening to classical music, and watching Halloween movies. He frequently thanked Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother for taking care of him. He will be missed.
The funeral will be on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Immaculate Queen Church in Rathdrum, Idaho. The burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
