Dorothy Eleanor Nelson, age 92, resident of Post Falls, ID passed away Oct 29, 2012. Dorothy was born Feb 20, 1920 to Harry and Emma (Peterson) Rude in Missoula, MT. As a child she moved to Wallace, ID where she was raised with her brothers, Harold, John and Lee. Dorothy graduated from Wallace High School in 1939.
On June 5, 1943 she married Harry Nelson in Dimming, New Mexico. She returned to Wallace in 1944 waiting the return of Harry from the Army Air Corp while serving in WWII. Following his return they lived in Mullan and Wallace, ID while raising their children Gary, Carol and Doug. For a short time she worked as the office clerk at the Wallace Elk Lodge. After Harrry's retirement, they spent their time in Hawaii, Lake Mary, Ronan, MT and Mesa, AZ. With Harry's passing in 2000, she spent winters in AZ and summers in Osburn, ID until 2008 when she moved to Post Falls to be closer to her daughter Carol and husband Bob. Dorothy became a resident of Living Springs in Post Falls in 2009 until the time of her passing. Dorothy is survived by children Gary (Sandy) Nelson of Tigard, OR, Carol (Bob) Yost of Post Falls, ID and Doug Nelson of Elko, NV grandchildren; Kim Sassamin, Kevin Nelson, Teresa Yost, Darrin Yost, Marrkki Nelson and Melissa Williamson and 6 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Donna Rude & Christy Rude of Osburn, ID and several nieces and nephews, her extended family of caregivers and residents at Living Springs. No services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho or your charity of choice.
