Dorothy Madden

February 2, 1933 — September 1, 2020

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy “Dotti" L. Madden, 87; the daughter of Irvie Lee Edwards and Della Louise Knight, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. She was born on February 2, 1933, in Kamiah, Idaho. She later moved to Lewiston with her mom and four sisters: Jeanna Ward, Majorie Moore, Maybelle MacDonald and Betty Orton. She married the great love of her life, James P. Madden, and spent 54 years wonderful years together, until his passing in May of 2010. Dotti loved life and wasn't afraid to take on a challenge. Anything she set her mind to do, she did well. If she didn't know how to do something, she would figure out a way. She taught herself many things, like upholstery, oil painting, etc. She worked numerous jobs as a waitress, cashier, mobile park manager. In the early 1970's, she went to beauty school and became a hairdresser. Later in life, Dotti went back to school and became a teacher, in a Christian School in Reno, NV, until she finally retired for good. She grew close to all the children in the small school, not just the ones in her class. She always liked to be busy knitting, making crafts, and sewing. She would stay up late for weeks making Christmas presents for her nieces and nephew's when they were younger. Dotti even made time to be a long time member of the Eagles Lodge. More than anything, she loved family and friends and always did her best to be there for loved ones whenever they had a need. Dotti helped raise two step-children: Sharon Vick and Frank Madden. She had one daughter, Luanna Manning; seven grandchildren: Tom Vick, Jim Vick, Dee Dee Kabureck, Jason Manning, Misty Boni, Harley Lipelt and Mac Madden; eleven great grandchildren: Allie Vick, Alex Vick, Corgon Lipelt, Atticus Lipelt, Halie Speer, James Dyer, Jason Dyer, Jordyn DeWater, Kaylee Manning, Calli Kidd and Lyra Boni, her great-great grandchildren Kylah, Daxton, Sylas, Mathew, Myles, Syrina and Kura, as well as twelve nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
