Doris Elaine Hightree, 86, of Salmon, Idaho passed away April 29, 2015 at the Discovery Care Center in Salmon, Idaho. She was born August 27, 1928 in Tustin, Michigan to Harvey and Audrey (Whittum) Trotter.
As a young child Doris moved with her family to St. Louis, Michigan where she attended and graduated from St. Louis High School. She spent one year at Olivet Nazarene College, then went west with several friends to sunny California. She worked for the Forest Service in California. There she met Paul Hightree and they were later married October 19, 1954 in her home town of St. Louis, Michigan.
Together they moved to Salmon in December of 1966. They moved away in 1970 but loved Salmon and retired in Salmon in 1987, residing there until her passing.
Doris was a member of the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, and enjoyed helping with meals on wheels. She also served on the Lemhi County Board of Guardians for a time and was always available to help those who asked, and had also volunteered for the local Hospice agency.
She is survived by her husband Paul Hightree of Salmon; two sons Matt (Kathy) Hightree of Boise, Idaho, and Tony (Gemma) Hightree of Raton, New Mexico; one brother Bill (Dee) Trotter of Mecosta, Michigan; seven grandchildren Dan, Josh, Audra, Derek, Brandon, Mark, and Paul; 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, and one great-grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday May 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 178 Hwy 28.
