On Tuesday, February 23 2016, Donna went home peacefully to her father surrounded by family and friends.
On October 22, 1950 Donna was born in La Grande, Oregon to Don and Dorothy Whitman. As a small child she moved to Spokane Washington where she met her dear friends Marianne Sutton and Terry Welch, who are her best friends still today. She attended Roger’s High School where she was active in choir and the glee club. She also worked full time at Ross Bros grocery store where she met her future husband Roger Flaa. Roger and Donna were married January 3, 1970, and they had two children Kevin and Amy.
Donna worked for over thirty years as a commission sales representative for both Montgomery Wards and Sears and she was good at it. Several of her co-workers became life-long friends. What she did love was playing the piano and singing with the Sweet Adeline’s. In her younger years she also loved to be in athletics: softball, volleyball, or just about anything competitive. Donna also liked to tell tale tales from which her friends and family coined the phrase “Donna Stories.”
The thing Donna loved the most was her family. She is survived by her Aunt, Vivian Griggs, son Kevin Flaa and his wife Tracy, daughter Amy Lanning and her husband Cliff. She had six grandchildren, Shawn, Brenden, Hannah, Kennedy, Christopher, and Sabrina, and three great-grandchildren. She also had several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Donna is preceded in death by her father, Don Whitman, mother Dorothy Whitman, and sister, Bonnie Walther.
Services will be held at Bell Tower Funeral Home and Crematory, 3398 E Jenalan in Post Falls at 1 p.m. on Sunday the 28th of February, followed by a pot-luck reception at 3 p.m. at the Post Falls Senior Center, 1215 E. Third Ave.
