Donna Lefors

June 5, 1928 — November 16, 2013

Donna (Dottie) Lee LeFors of Moscow, Idaho died at the age of 85 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the evening of November 16, 2013. Dottie was born June 5, 1928 in Moscow to Ray and Edna (Tyrrell) Shoop and lived her whole life as a Moscow resident. She was an honor student, active member of the school dance team, and graduated from Moscow Schools in 1946. Shortly thereafter Dottie married Gene LeFors on August 8, 1947 and proceeded to have three children: a son Gary born in 1951 and twin daughters Candace and Cinda in 1955. Her marriage ended in divorce in 1973. Dottie was a mother and homemaker during her children's youthful years. She later was employed as a secretary for long established Papineau's Insurance Agency for several years before beginning a career as a secretary in the Plant, Soil, and Entomology Department at the University of Idaho for over 20 years from which she retired. She was an avid follower of sporting activities that her children were involved in, never missing a football or basketball game and always showing unconditional support, including active participation as an officer in the Moscow Bear Booster organization for many years. This following continued late in life as her grandchildren also participated in several activities that allowed her to show continued support of her family. She was also an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners. Dottie was a charter member of the Bowlerama in Moscow and actively participated in various bowling leagues from the day it opened until the day it closed. She was skilled at knitting, needlework and sewing, gifting friends and family with afghans, baby blankets, prom dresses, school clothes and Barbie and Cabbage Patch Kid clothes. In retirement she remained active walking every day and having lunch with friends. She enjoyed reading, country music, and television. Her daughter Cinda remembers her as a loving, caring, and beautiful lady with curly white hair and a heart of gold, a great and fantastic mom and grandmother with a wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her son Gary and wife Kathy of Moscow, daughter Candy and husband Jack Smetana of Coeur d'Alene, and daughter Cinda of Boise, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three siblings Jerry Shoop, Bob Shoop, and Betty Mortensen. Dottie was cremated November 19 at Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls where arrangements were made and condolences may be sent to (www.belltowerfuneralhome.com). In honor of her request, no services will be held.
