Donald Philip Griswold, 68, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho passed away January 3, 2014 at his home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Donald was born September 14, 1945 in Red Buff, California to Frank and Ocie (Tate) Griswold. Donald grew up in California, and as a young man he traveled throughout northern California and the Pacific Northwest, finally fulfilling his lifelong dream of moving to Alaska in 1984, where he lived for the next 20 years. He moved back to Coeur d'Alene, where he had lived previously, in 2006.
Donald first married Carol Harwood in 1967, and together they had two children, Charles and Richard. Donald and Carol later divorced. After some years, he met Sandra Kenny and they were married June 19, 1983 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Donald was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed fishing, fly tying, hiking, and taking photographs of wildlife and scenery, and even had some of his photographs published in magazines.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Sandra of the family home in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two sons Charles Griswold of Fortuna, California, and Richard (Milesa) Griswold of West Richland, Washington; two brothers Bob (Ina) Griswold of Moab, Utah, and Jim (Karen) Griswold of Reno, Nevada; three sisters Ethel (Ocey) Grant of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Norma Griswold of Wasilla, Alaska, and Virginia (Russ) Hageno of Central Point, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother who passed as a child.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Coeur d' Alene Seventh Day Adventist Church, 111 Locust Ave. Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.
