October 31, 1940 — January 3, 2025

Coeur d' Alene

Dolores June Lunde passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, at the age of 84.

Dolores was born on October 31, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Al and Irene Schima (née Kucala). She attended Harvard Preparatory School and graduated from Reavis High School, where she forged lifelong friendships and proudly competed on the swimming and diving team. Dolores often reminisced about those cherished memories and the camaraderie she experienced during her school years.

After graduation, Dolores embarked on her career with General Motors, where her intelligence, work ethic and dedication shone. In 1970, she and her first husband moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, where she raised her children with love, grace, and resilience. Later in life, she made her home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Dolores found joy in life’s simple and adventurous pleasures. She was an avid traveler, enjoyed skeet shooting, and delighted in fishing on Lake Pend Oreille, where she once landed an impressive 26-pound, 9-ounce Kamloops trout—a story she loved to tell. She also found peace in nature, savoring quiet walks and the beauty of the world around her. Dolores cherished her time caring for her three beloved Shih Tzus.

A lover of classical music, Dolores often relaxed to its soothing melodies. Her warmth, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Dolores is survived by her loving children, Vicki (Ed) Wininger, Steve (Anita) Lunde, and John (Amy) Lunde; her cherished grandchildren, Camille Clark, Kendra Wininger, Kaitlyn Lunde, Nathaniel Lunde, Sheridan Lunde, Taylor Merrill, Bradley Lunde, and Colton Lunde; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Laisha Lunde, Piper Lunde, Finn Clark, Chiara Lunde, and Karter Merrill. She also leaves behind her brother, Al Schima Jr., and her aunt, Charlene Allan

She was preceded in death by her father, Al Schima; her mother, Irene Schima; and her brother, Richard Schima.

A celebration of Dolores’ life will be held privately this Spring.

Dolores’ legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
