DeVon Ray Weeks, 76, of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho passed away peacefully, to be with the lord in heaven, surrounded by his loving family December 27, 2013 at the circle of life in Kootenai Medical Center. DeVon was born December 29, 1936 in Fillmore, California to Harold and Lucille (Musgraves) Weeks. He attended and graduated from Nordhoff Union High School in June of 1956. DeVon worked construction with his family in California. He was a great athlete, playing basketball, and football in high school, leading the football team to a championship in 1952. He was a big basketball fan, and enjoyed rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Gonzaga basketball teams. He met the love of his life Joyce Robertson and they were married June 30th, 1956 in Kingman, Arizona. They lived in Ojai, California until 1973 when the family moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, there DeVon opened his own construction business, Weeks Construction, that he ran until his retirement. DeVon was a gentle giant at 6'7", he was an amazing craftsman an carpenter. His passion was building furniture for the family and special friends. He built custom homes, did remodeling and built other commercial buildings around Coeur d' Alene, and North Idaho. He was a man of few words but enjoyed endless day dreaming and driving around "going on patrol" to coffee shops. He was kind to everyone he met. He lived simply and never complained. He is survived by his wife Joyce Weeks of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; two daughters Eileen (Ed) Gordon of Post Falls, Idaho, and Carri (Mark) Berglund of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; one son Glenn (Christine) Weeks of Post Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren Amber (John) McGinnis, Brent (Jen) Gordon, Joshua Weeks and Wendy Pratt. Great Grand-kids: Dylan Gordon, Daniel Gordon, Abbey Aaseby, Aalyha and Hailee Gordon. DeVon was preceded in death by his parents Harold & Lucille Weeks, one infant daughter Linda Lee, brothers Harold Norman, Allen Dean, Jimmy, Morris, Melvin Weeks and sister Barbara Case. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Kootenai County Humane Society at 11650 N Ramsey Rd, Hayden, ID 83835, and be kind to each other.
