Darryl Lee Abbott

December 25, 1939 — July 16, 2014

Darryl L. Abbott passed away on July 16th, 2014, on the wonderful Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The only son of Homer L. Abbott Jr. and Naomi Ruth Bennett, he was born on December 25, 1939, in Indiana. He attended and graduated from Washington High School in 1956, and promptly joined the Navy where he served proudly for 21 years, retiring in 1977. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for DDL Laboratories for 9 years and then worked for AFG Glass for 17 years, until his second retirement in 2003. He and his wife Lena moved to Post Falls, Idaho in 2005, where they could enjoy their children, grandchildren, and the gorgeous Idaho wilderness. Darryl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lena, his sister, Kay Bollinger, his children, Eric, Muneich, and Frank, and 8 wonderful grandchildren. A rosary will be held for Darryl on Sunday, July 20, at 7:00 pm at the Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls, ID at 495 N. Lincoln St. The requiem funeral Mass will be held the following day, Monday, July 21, at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls, ID at 495 N. Lincoln St. with a procession and burial with full military honors to the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, Washington.
