Darlene “Scotty” Walta Hanson passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho from cardiac complications. She was born in Fairview, North Dakota. Scotty has been a resident of Post Falls, Idaho for the past several years. Prior to moving to Idaho, she was resident of Puyallup/Orting, Washington, for over 50 years. In her earlier years she also lived in Spokane, Washington, Montana and Alaska.
Scotty completed High School in Burlington, Washington and at different times of her life pursued her college education. In her earlier years she worked at the Spokane Eye Clinic. She also worked as a realtor alongside her husband Oliver “Ollie” Hanson for many years. Scotty also provided loving in-home care for her mother and mother-in-law in their later years.
Scotty had a passion for gardening (garden club), loved cooking, was a voracious reader on a wide variety of subjects, and had an amazing talent for arts and crafts. Scotty enjoyed a number of mediums including painting, jewelry making, card making, scrapbooking, stamping and sewing. Scotty loved following some of her favorite artists online and continued to broaden her artistic skills. She would create project days for visits with her grandchildren, where she would assist them with creations.
She was also an animal lover leaving behind her cat Teddy. During their years living just off the Orting Highway Scotty and Ollie assisted in helping over 70 animals that were abandoned or lost. Some of those lucky animals became beloved family pets.

Fletcher (Donna), Daughter Robin Wittenberg (Mike, Audra, Trevor), Son Kelly Hanson (Aisha, Jackson, Cooper, Brooks, Parker) and Step-daughters Lynne Kinson (Don, Breanna, Katlyn) and Kristi Hanson (Loren, Dane, Quinn).
