It is with the heaviest heart that we announce the passing of our cherished and beloved family member, Daniel Robert Garnett, who we lost suddenly and unexpectedly on June 14th, 2024, at the age of 37.
Dan was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he chose to reside, raise his family, and carry out his profession as a general contractor. He graduated from Project High School, then went on to obtain many accolades throughout his life; including his contractor’s license, being a member of the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers, becoming a member of the Scottish Rite, a Freemason, and a Shriner. These accomplishments followed the footsteps of Dan’s talented father, who passed down his specialty trade of wallpaper hanging, and his vast knowledge of life. Dan then furthered his career by attending annual educational conventions where he would share his expertise with others in his field. Dan was a skilled and talented tradesman and enjoyed sharing his artistry with others. We are blessed to see the outcome of Dan’s professional work, locally and nationally, that can serve as a meaningful remembrance of his contribution to the community.
Dan is survived by his three children and their mothers: David Anthony Garnett (Crystal Reinicke), Jameson Rowe Garnett (Reva Garnett, former wife), Evolyn Mya Garnett (Shelby Kope), his mother Susan Garnett, and his siblings Mark and Sarah Garnett. He was preceded in death by his father, David Robert Garnett, and family members Cecile Garnett, Jean Boyer Zachary, Ruth Zachary, and Rudy Rieken.
Dan was a faithful and loyal friend, devoted father, respected husband, and an admired son. He had an incredible sense of humor, was light hearted and carefree, yet deeply intellectual, and he had the brightest love for life. He enjoyed going to the beautiful Lake Cda and collecting rocks and gems with Evolyn, wood working and bonding over a love for music with Jameson, and pursuing exciting business endeavors with David. Dan always found a way to find happiness in the simplest moments and it brought him joy to provide for his family and friends. Dan regularly traveled, both locally and nationally, for work and for leisure, and always included bringing his family, creating lasting lifetime memories.
We will miss Dan immensely and immeasurably as we reflect on all of our special moments that we shared with him. His presence was one of a kind, truly a gift, and his memories will be cherished in our hearts forever. Dan will be remembered for his unwavering love to those around him, his sincere and genuine loyalty, his deep devotion and admiration for his children, his intelligence, his spirit of giving, and his beautiful smile that could light up the heart of anyone in his presence.
A formal memorial service to honor Dan will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at 1pm at the Scottish Rite Temple located at 8999 N Strayhorn Rd, Hayden, Id 83835.
In honor of Dan’s generous nature, donations on his behalf can be made to The Shriner’s Hospital, Companions Animal Center, or to his children. For information on donating to his children, please call 509-879-1074.
