Claudia Lynn Holtz, Mom, was taken home to heaven on March 1, 2019 after suffering multiple strokes and a massive staph infection and pneumonia. Mom turned 74 years old on Valentine’s Day. She impacted many, many people with her compassionate and loving heart. Her time was spent over the years in numerous outreaches. Mom enjoyed leading a 4-H Club based out of her home, Luther League Youth Group at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Friday Morning Prayer Breakfast in Reardan WA. She also cleaned houses for many years and her older clients became friends who she then cared for beyond cleaning their homes. Mom enjoyed her time as a Reardan-Edwall School Board Member for several years. The SPEAR organization was very dear to mom as she was part of many promising changes to benefit at risk children. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Reardan WA for many years and most recently St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Spokane where she loved offering her help in the Altar Guild. Lutherhaven held a special place in mom’s heart and she dearly loved her time spent there for the Cut, Crop and Quilt retreats. She found this time at Lutherhaven to be re-energizing for her soul and spirit. Mom also loved to create ink stamped cards, make quilts, sew doll clothes, show the youngest of seamstresses how to sew, gardening, and canning. She enjoyed many opportunities to join her friends for good fellowship time together in doing these joys of her life. For several years mom enjoyed her time on the Organizing Committee for The Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Benefit Walk each year. Gonzaga basketball was also a passion of mom’s and she loved following both teams. Mom mostly enjoyed cheering on her Lady Zags when they were home in The Kennel. Mom attended Community Colleges of Spokane taking computer technology classes. She worked in the administration offices of a few local companies impacting those around her with knowledge, compassion and a listening ear. At the time of her stroke and illnesses she was working as a Home Health Aide. In March 2018 she was named Treasured Caregiver for her excellent services she provided her clients. Those she cared for relished in seeing her each time she came to their homes and she loved seeing them too. Mom is survived by her two daughters, Sally Holtz and Kathryn (Holtz) Darrar (husband Mike), her sister Rene’ (husband Carl Lambert) and family, her step sister Barb (husband Al), her step brothers Art (wife Donna) and Bruce (wife Natalie) and their extended families. Mom, you will always be close to our hearts and we wait for the time when we will be reunited once again. You were loved so much but, we know you know that. We love you Mom! You will always and forever be in our hearts.
