Barbara Louise Weech

February 12, 1943 — December 7, 2019

Barbara Louise (Gibbs) Weech, 76, passed away Dec 7, 2019, at home in Hayden, ID. Barbara was born on Feb. 12, 1943 in Amarillo, TX to Jay Gibbs and Myrtle (Givens) Gibbs, who soon moved to Hayden, ID, where Barbara spent much of her life. Some of her fondest memories were growing up on the small family farm with her brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene Gibbs. Anyone who knew Barb knows that one of her main hobbies was food - eating well, baking delicious pies, gardening and sharing the comfort of food. She was a homemaker for most of her life who always made sure her extended family were taken care of, physically and emotionally. A Christian in her actions, as well as belief, she always looked to the needs of others, seeing the best in each person, high or low. A spirited and determined person, Barb loved gathering for events and laughs with her family and friends, bargain-hunting, eBay, spending a day at the casino, fishing, and picking huckleberries. Barb is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, David Weech (of Hayden, ID). Barb and Dave were married in 1959 in Coeur d Alene and grew up together, sharing many happy times, as well as hardships. Barbara is also survived by their children: Dan Weech, Vicki Mickelson, Willy Weech, and Erin Weech, and their spouses and ex- spouses who have been part of the family for a number of years: Georgette Weech, Garth Mickelson, Tammy Weech, and Lisa Weech. She is also survived by five siblings: Jim Gibbs, Don Gibbs, Beverly Lafferty, Roberta Fruechtl, and Betty Roland, as well as by her seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A memorial service with a celebration of life afterwards will be held at the Lake City Center; 1916 N. Lakewood Drive in Coeur d Alene, Idaho on Jan. 4, 2020, at 3:00 PM. Barbaras warm heart and wise perspective will be greatly missed. We are deeply thankful for her inspiring presence in our lives.
