Kenai resident Arlene Lois Washburn, 80, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna from multiple health complications.
Arlene was born Feb. 15, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wis. She graduated from Oxford High School in Oxford, Wis. She also attended North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She also served in the US Navy in 1957.
Arlene worked for the Coeur d’ Alene Police Dept. and also the Post Falls Police Dept., retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the Falls Full Gospel Church Assemble of God. She enjoyed flying, painting, knitting, making wedding cakes, fishing, playing piano and guitar, and gardening. Arlene was always full of love, life and energy. Her family was the most important thing to her in her life and they always came first. She was dedicated to the Lord and loved playing and singing gospel hymns. Her generosity knew no bounds and she will be greatly missed. Her family wrote.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Washburn, her father, Howard Smith and mother, Myrtle Mitchell.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Dyroy; son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Jenni Washburn, all of Kenai, AK; granddaughters, Danielle Bailey and husband, Troy all of Kenai, Michelle Dyroy of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; grandson, Michael Washburn of Sandpoint, Idaho; great grandsons, Orion and Grayson Bailey, both of Kenai; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Dave Krey of Madison, Wis.; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Carol Smith, of Oxford, Wis., Larry and Jan Smith of Baraboo, Wis., Curtis and Kay Smith of Madison, Wis.; brother and sister-in-law, Don & Lil Washburn and numerous nephews and nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews.
