Sandra Joanne (Green) Pratt

Sandra JoAnne (Green) Pratt “Sandy”, 68, of Post Falls, Idaho passed away with her children surrounding her on August 4, 2016 at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Sandy was born July 27, 1948 in Boise, Idaho to Robert and Maxine (Carrell) Green. Sandy spent much of her childhood in Montour and Donnelly Idaho. She graduated from Donnelly McCall High School in 1966. Sandy’s love of reading, learning and sharing knowledge with others led her to her life’s passion: work in libraries. In her forties, she attended Eastern Washington University, where she received her undergraduate degree, and then the University of Arizona earning a Masters Degree in Library Science. Sandy worked for Spokane County libraries for several years before moving to Coeur d’Alene Public Library in 1998. She retired in 2014. Aside from her passion for libraries, Sandy loved spending time with her family, and was a proud mother of three children and grandma to four amazing grandkids. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, traveling, photography, art, and was a great cook (just ask her son!). She is survived by two daughters Shannon McKenzie-Hagen of Cornelius, North Carolina, and Amber McKenzie of Spokane, Washington; one son Anthony “Tony” Pratt of Spokane Valley, Washington; two sisters Diane (Green) Hutton of Cottonwood, Idaho, and Shari (Green) Bowling of McCall, Idaho; four grandchildren Finn (9), Tess (7), Zeni (5), and Solea (3). She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother Robert Carrell Green. Her family, friends and colleagues will miss Sandy deeply. She was an intelligent, independent, motivated woman who cared deeply for those closest to her. And while she left us far too early, she will live on in our hearts and minds forever. A Celebration of Sandy’s life will be held Sunday August 14, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library 702 E. Front Ave. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in honor of Sandy be made to the Coeur d’Alene Public Library at 702 E. Front Ave. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83814. These donations will go toward purchasing books in Sandy’s name, which is very fitting given her love of reading and sharing knowledge with others.
